Midtown Manhattan

Today we're taking a tour of Midtown Manhattan
(40th St. – 58th St. & Lexington Ave – Sixth Ave)

So we’ll take the PATH back to Manhattan (around 11:30 a.m.) and head first to the Public Library. Many people probably recognize it from the movie "The Day After Tomorrow".
From there, we walk along 42nd Street, from where you can already see the Chrysler Building. Just before it is Grand Central Station (the 1913 train station). It is a beautiful building, but despite its actual size, it almost gets lost in the urban canyons.

Ein paar Straßen weiter kommen wir dann zum Rockefeller Center.

A few blocks further on, we arrive at the Rockefeller Center. The building itself is simple and impressive only because of its large tower. The good thing, however, is that the tower offers a wonderful view of Manhattan (admission: $17). Since Rockefeller Center is located in the northern part of Manhattan, you have a beautiful view of Central Park on one side and, on the other, you can admire the full scale of Manhattan, with the Empire State Building towering at its center.
Right next to Rockefeller Center is the Radio City Music Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral.

To avoid long lines, book a Ticket for the Top of The Rock Observation Deck with a time slot. I use GetYourGuide for this, since it lets me keep all my events in one app and stay organized.Plus, you can often cancel for free up to 24 hours in advance if something comes up.

Now we’re heading down Fifth Avenue toward Central Park. On both sides of the street, you’ll find all kinds of fashion designers and shops for those with deeper pockets.
Before we enter Central Park, we’ll take a quick look at the Trump Tower with its gilded and gleaming interior.

Around 4:30 p.m., we head to a diner on 58th Street to grab a bite to eat. After all, we skipped lunch. At the diner, all the waiters are wearing suits, which is probably meant to justify the high prices. Well, it is vacation, after all. Vinzent orders a $7.50 milkshake with his meal, which could have passed for a full meal on its own and was super delicious.

An hour later, we head to Central Park. New Yorkers gather on a large lawn there to play games like Frisbee, and we get a chance to rest a bit after all that walking. Around 6:30 p.m., the sun disappears behind the adjacent skyscrapers, and we board the PATH train heading toward New Jersey.
