Kennedy Space Center

Route: Orlando to the Kennedy Space Center
Distance: approx. 60 mi / 95 km

We leave around 8:30 a.m. for the Kennedy Space Center in the hope of seeing the shuttle launch. Shortly after arriving, we learn that the launch has been postponed until the next day.

Since the admission ticket (38 USD) is valid for two days, we decide to tour the KSC (IMAX, ISS modules, history of spaceflight, bus tour of the KSC grounds) and just go back the next day to watch the shuttle launch.
All in all, you really need to plan for 5 hours, since you’re guided through a lot of the tour and therefore have little control over the schedule.

To avoid long lines, book a Ticket for the Kennedy Space Center that includes a Discovery Bus Tour. I use GetYourGuide for this because it lets me keep track of all my events in one app. Plus, you can often cancel for free up to 24 hours in advance if something comes up.

Hooters Girls

Around 5:30 p.m., we head back to Orlando and enjoy some delicious chicken wings and seafood at Hooters.
Afterward, we go on a short photo tour (Orlando at night).
